Young Romance #1 remodel…

Made for this thread at Warren Ellis’ Whitechapel board, where the task was to reimagine the cover for Young Romance #1. Couple of hours of work. Pencil, digital inks, digital colors.

I haven’t decided yet, but either this version (or a version without words) will land in Moon Jade Angel #2.

Inflammation plus: Update and the process…

After receiving comments on Penciljack forums, I decided to modify the drawing a little. Here’s the new version with the modified hands and other minor tweaks.

About the process a little: The red lines were the original sketch, done all digitally (which I rarely do). They were actually black and then turned light grey, but I changed that for this image. Then came the black outline and finally the purple/violet lines to mark the black areas. The next step was to fill these with black and apply color.

You can also see the difference between the original sketch and the redrawn arm here quite well.

I’ve been pondering on making this the cover for Moon Jade Angel #2, but I think that might be too different from the first one. I don’t know, just a thought.

Inflammation…

Ah, finally some new art to post! The result of today’s “digital doodling” session. The original sketch ended up interesting enough so I expanded it into a full piece. Might go into Moon Jade Angel #2.

Last of the batch…

Well, this is the last image of the batch I pencilled awhile ago. This marks 9 finished pieces for Inkbook #2, and I can see it’s already starting stronger than the first one did. In fact, I think I’ll try shooting for 52 pieces this time. That leaves 43 to go.

Breaking the theme…

So, I guess Inkbook #2 won’t be all monsters after all.

Here’s the two pieces I inked today. Both started kinda miserably and I struggled a lot to pull out something interesting from the pencils, but in the end I think they came out fine.

The SomethingThe Admiral

Quite proud of this one…

About… uhh… three hours of work? four? I lost track of time to be honest.

As usual, it ended up looking totally different than planned, but I’m quite proud with the results.

Before the Fight

Quite productive today…

Second inked page for Inkbook #2 that I finished today, giving me five total. This one’s more detailed I guess. About 90 minutes work total (not including the pencil sketch which probably took 20 minutes max).

The Rider

Drunkduck’s down, so here’s a drawing instead…

It appears Drunkduck went down, so I can’t make a post about the fourth page of Carnivore Carnival going live. I’ll do that once it does.

Meanwhile, some art to sweeten the wait, my fourth piece for Inkbook #2.

Carniplant

Two monsters for Inkbook #2…

Just as the title says.

Longneck

and Lord Dino

I pencilled them awhile ago actually and decided to move aside to focus on Robyn Hood. Well, that was a mistake, as the unfinished pieces seemed to sap out all the creative energy from me. So, in an attempt to break back into the working mode, I shall ink all of them in the next few days (there’s about five left to go).

Green dress…

A quick drawing. The idea was to draw something spontaneous, fast. I ended up changing this and that anyway. Will probably land in Moon Jade Angel #2.
